INTRODUCTION:

MISSION

To provide plantation in more area as compare to present one.

VISION

To enhance tree plantation in public as well as private sector.

RAISING OF NURSERIES:

The major objective of Forest wing is to help the people to raise private nurseries on private land. For this purpose farmers are guided to purchase polythene stubs and seeds from the market. The technical advice is given to them about various operations like weeding, shifting etc.

AFFORESTATION ON PRIVATE LAND:

The percentage of forest can only be raised through Afforestation on private land. The farmers are motivated to grow trees on their private land. Technical guidance is provided to the farmers through personnel visits of the Forest staff. For this purpose saplings are also provided to the farmers

ADVISORY SERVICES TO FARMERS:

The forest wing is continuously providing the facility of advisory services .It is beneficial for common people as well as for farmers growing forests. It includes guidance motivation and education .For this purpose a gathering of farmers are arranged at a common place and a lecture/seminar is delivered.

TRIMMING/PRUNNING OF TREES:

If the trees are not properly trimmed/pruned; they look shabby and become crooked and knotty. Straight bole and good quality timber is obtained through pruning. The poplar and other trees are pruned in the dormant season with the help of sharp sickle. Only 1/3 rd of the tree branches are pruned.

AFFORESTATION ALONG ROADS,WATER CHANNELS AND DRAINS:

Pits are dug in advance in the strips along various roads so that the plants may be fixed in the same. This exercise is done to save time. The staff of arboriculture is engaged to dig pits in the strips along the roads, water channels, drains and then saplings are planted.

DISTRIBUTION OF SAPLINGS:

In order to provide better quality plants the forest wing is engaged to supply better quality saplings to the common people. This feature helps the farmers to get plantation at reasonable cost.

STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES:

• Plants are available @ Rs 2/per plant from six different nurseries of Forests wing.
• Plantation in polythene bags is carried out throughout the year.
• There should be a distance of at least 10*10 between two rows.

District Forest officer is available to provide technical guidance to the general public regarding plantation work or to get any information with respect to Forestry, in the office of District Officer Forests 108-Ravi Road Lahore.
